About
the Speaker:
Rev.
Doug Detert was raised in Chicago, Illinois and his wife Millie is
from Boston, Massachusetts, but they currently reside in Wisconsin.
Doug
Detert and his wife Millie ministered under David Wilkerson and
Leonard Ravenhill for a short season at Brooklyn Teen Challenge New
York City in the mid 1960’s. The greater preparation and
credentials for ministry came during the nearly 30 years Doug and
Millie spent in training and service at the Zion Faith Homes in Zion,
Illinois. The story of the Zion Faith Homes is told in Doug’s book,
A
Vast Simplicity.
Doug’s passion and message is preparing for the return of Jesus
Christ and God’s end time work in the body of Christ.
Since
moving to Wautoma, WI, 1996, Doug and Millie have made frequent trips
overseas, to share their testimony and experiences with spiritually
hungry believers, especially in Myanmar and India. While visiting
India in the early 2000’s Doug and Millie met Brother S.R. Manohar
of Rays of Love. Doug continues to mentor Brother Manohar.
In
1998, they led a small congregation in rural Wisconsin to incorporate
as Evergreen Center, whose mission statement reads, “a place where
it is easier to draw near to Jesus”. In 2006, Evergreen Center
purchased 105 acres of developed property in Almond, WI, where The
Evergreen Center continues the legacy of the Zion Faith Homes through
weekly church services, a discipleship and missionary training
school, distance learning opportunities, annual retreats, and various
outreaches in the local community.
Rev.
Douglas Detert holds an AB Degree from Harvard College, where he
concentrated in Mathematics, and graduated in 1964, with a cum
laude in
General Studies. In 1965 he completed 30 hours of Master’s level
courses in Theology at Central Bible College in Springfield,
Missouri.

A
Vast Simplicity. Although most have probably never heard of the Zion Faith Homes, what God did there is nothing short of amazing. Birthed through a unique convergence of the Holiness, Divine Healing, and Pentecostal movements that swept the U.S. in the first decade of the 20th Century, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the Zion Faith Homes was extraordinary. For nearly a hundred years, thousands of pastors, missionaries, and ordinary people were drawn to the three unassuming white houses in Zion, Illinois, to seek the Lord. And they found Him! In this inconspicuous place, where Jesus was truly preeminent and the leaders were powerfully filled and led by the Holy Spirit, those who came to seek the Lord found Him in incredible ways. But more importantly, in the prophetic words of the key founder, what happened there was merely "a taste of something God is going to do in the Last Days." A Vast Simplicity recounts the testimony of men and women who experienced what it means to live in the simple, yet vast, wonder of having "just Jesus." But this book isn't just history. A Vast Simplicity will stir an insatiable hunger for Jesus - just Jesus - in believers today. It will challenge stale religion and impersonal head-knowledge. What you read in these pages may well stretch your understanding and your expectations of the Christian life. Be assured, "God is making Jesus available to His people now in the same way, and to the same degree. That is why this book has been written."
