Meet Ken Sorenson
Ken Sorenson, General Manager of KPLE-TV, has a passion for Jesus Christ, people, revival, and for race relations. He overseas community relations for the station, vision, and direction for the future of KPLE-TV.
We are building the Christian Revival Network, wanting to incorporate 100+languages, on a Christian “Zoom”-like platform.
As in the Gospel of John One, when disciples were telling others about Jesus, the simple response to their questions about Jesus was “Come and See”.
Ken is recently completed 33 years in the US Army and transitioned to KPLE-TV.
Ken served as chaplain for battalion on up to responsibility for religious support in Afghanistan 2018-19 and worked directly with multinational senior leadership of numerous NATO nations.
A personal highlight for Ken while in uniform was preaching at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL, the church pastored by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during much of the Civil Rights Movement.
Ken has served several ministries back in his home state of Wisconsin, however was led tominister in the Reserves and then Active Duty.
A native of Racine, Wisconsin, he and his wife Patrice, have been happily married for 35+years.
They live in Temple, Texas near their two daughters and four grandchildren.
The Sorenson’s two sons live in College Station, TX and Seattle, Washington respectively.

Ken is recently completed 33 years in the US Army and transitioned to KPLE-TV.
Chaplain (COL) Ken Sorenson finished his final Active Duty assignment at Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD in June 2022. Previously Ken served as Command Chaplain IMCOM-Europe, Sembach, GE. Prior to Ken moving to Europe, Ken served as the Resolute Support Chaplain, Kabul, AF.
He served at Space and Missile Defense Command Redstone Arsenal, AL following his completion of Air War College (AWC) Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL. He was the Division West Chaplain from December, 2012 – July 2015. 2010 – 2012 he served as the Deputy Installation Chaplain Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, AK.
Previously he served with distinction as the Family Life Chaplain JUL2008 – MAY2010, under LTG-Ret. Daniel Bolger for First Cavalry Division serving in Iraq until January 2010 and was recognized as the subject matter expert for Pastoral Care in Combat across the Army. His previous assignment was as the Family Life Chaplain Fort Hood, TX after attending the Family Life Training program. He served from 2003-2005 with 2BCT “Black Jack” Brigade, 1st Cavalry and 2BCT, First Armored Division 2003 under LTG-ret JD Johnson, both units were deployed to combat in Baghdad, Iraq during his time with these units.
Chaplain Sorenson’s previous assignments include serving as chaplain to the following organizations, 615th Aviation Support Battalion, First Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX (1996-1998); 27th Main Support Battalion, First Cavalry Division, (1998-1999); and 1-35 Armor Battalion, First Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany (1999-2003). His Reserve Assignments included: 2nd BDE Chaplain, 84th Training Division, Beaver Dam, WI; 521st Maintenance Battalion, 88th
RSC; Milwaukee, WI; 293d BSB, Mannheim, Germany where he first served as part of the 131st Chaplain Support
Team in support of the operations in Bosnia.
In 1984, Chaplain Sorenson graduated from the University of Wisconsin Parkside with a BA in Economics.
In 1988, he graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a Master of Divinity degree.
In 1999, he received a Masters in Counseling/Psychology from Trinity International University of Deerfield, IL.
2006 he received an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University, Killeen, TX.
Chaplain Sorenson’s awards include the Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, etc.
Chaplain Sorenson is married to the former Patrice Hesse of Franklin, Wisconsin.
They have four children; two sons, Joshua (31) and Samuel (27) and two daughters, Hannah Anderson (30) and Naomi Chavez (23). Three+ Grandchildren Mary Joy Anderson (4), Levi Anderson (3), Talitha Anderson (infant) and one expected late August.
Chaplain Sorenson is endorsed by the Evangelical Church Alliance.
